On the 6th and 7th of December we held the IV Congress of International Revolutionary Left in Madrid. More than 230 delegates and observes from the Spanish State, Portugal, Germany, Mexico and Venezuela took part. It was a stage to profoundly debate in  the most important aspects of the global class struggle: the Zionist genocide in Gaza, the inter‑imperialist struggle for economic and geopolitical supremacy, the defeat western powers in Ukraine, and the central role of China and Russia in the international stage. And of course, the rise of the far right and how to fight it.

Over two days, we examined the impact of all these processes on the consciousness of a new generation of young people and activists, our advances, the major growth of Revolutionary Left in the Spanish State, and the political gains achieved across many areas of our activity.

More than 40 contributions were given, which illustrated the analysei we have carried out during this period, and the theoretical attention we have dedicated to complex phenomena in a turbulent era. A revolutionary organisation that aims to win a mass position cannot settle for repeating slogans that fail to grasp the formidable contradictions that dialectically shift and feed back into each other.
They analysed in depth the class nature of Trumpism, its social base, and its similarities and differences with the fascist phenomenon of the 1930s; the reasons behind militarism and the widespread attacks on democratic rights; the new authoritarian and Bonapartist DNA that defines capitalist rule; the imperialist threat in Latin America; and, of course, the bankruptcy of reformism in all its variants.

But for our organisation, the discussion of perspectives is not an academic or scholarly exercise. It is a compass for intervention in struggle and for developing a communist strategy within the workers’ movement, among the youth fighting in the streets against Zionism and the far right, in the feminist and LGTBI movements from a class and socialist standpoint, and for raising the level of our cadres through all our propaganda and collective work. With no theatrical poses or self‑aggrandization, the Revolutionary Left is seriously fighting to place itself within the political scope of thousands of workers and young people with whom we are maintaining a real political dialogue.

We are fully aware that the rise of international class struggle — mobilisations, insurrections, general strikes and rebellions across many countries — directly poses to revolutionaries the task of building a consistent alternative.

Our congress is a space for reflection and democratic participation-for the whole membership, to understand what is happening around us and to open all ideas to debate. After two months of discussion on the document of world perspectives and party building, the congress has helped to outline and define our priorities.

In a world on fire, all the old devils that once seemed defeated have returned with even greater force. Capitalism as it existed in the decades after the Second World War no longer exists. The ruling class and its “democratic” advocates can only shore up their system by deepening inequality, destructive wars and ecological catastrophe.

Stability in international relations and the credibility of capitalist institutions have been brutally eroded, and will continue to be, as the conflict between the US and China intensifies and accelerates the rhythm of the convulsions we are living through: the Zionist genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, the imperialist threat against Venezuela, the growth of reactionary and neo‑fascist forces…

Reality clearly confirms the correctness of the Marxist analysis of imperialism. The decline of the US colossus, the loss of leadership in economic globalisation, and its deep internal crisis have produced unprecedented polarisation. The rise of Trumpism and the real threat it poses to the working class is one side of this reality, but so too is the entry into struggle of millions of workers and young people ready to fight the far right, the capitalist oligarchy and its criminal system.

Revolutionary Left is transforming and developing, incorporating a whole generation of young students and workers committed to building the party of revolution.

It is the hour of revolutionary communists

All comrades enthusiastically received the reports on the practical work of our organisation — the advances, the difficulties, the opportunities — and ultimately the feasibility of the ideas we defend. Revolutionary Left is transforming and developing, incorporating a whole new generation of young students and workers committed to building the party of revolution. And what better proof of militant commitment than the wonderful fundraising collection we carried out to continue building our revolutionary finances, in which we once again surpassed our target. The success of sales in our bookshop also broke the record of the previous congress.

We all parted again after an uninterrupted debate, filled with militant experiences, which left us more strengthened and convinced than ever to continue dedicating our effort and intelligence to the only cause that truly deserves it: the socialist revolution and the liberation of our class.
